Stand Up Paddleboarding

Whether it’s your first time on a SUP or looking to polish your paddling, our session is tailored to your pace and ability. Our coaches excel in helping you master the technique more efficiently, ensuring you leave with new skills and a greater love for paddleboarding.

Beginner Friendly

You don’t need any previous experience to join as our instructor will guide you through everything you need to know to paddle confidently on the water, and all essential equipment is provided. We’ll go at a relaxed pace, taking in the captivating surroundings as we go. Plus the downstream direction we’ll be taking means this should be a calm and comfortable day out on the water.

If you’ve done paddleboarding before, you’ll definitely still get something from this adventure as you’ll find our SUP route to be an unmissably gorgeous one, no matter your experience level!

Location

Once everyone is comfortably up and paddling, we'll embark on a serene journey along the River Avon. We are thrilled to explore this untouched stretch of water, starting at the picturesque Claverton Weir—a popular spot for wild swimming—before making our scenic return to Bath. This tranquil, boat-free area is teeming with wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for kingfishers darting above the water, and you might even catch a glimpse of a beaver in its natural habitat!

We’ll also take a leisurely pause en route for a floating picnic—so be sure to bring your packed lunch!

By the end of our session, you'll have gained the essential skills and confidence to join our River and Canal SUP Adventure Day in Bath!

The Gutsy Girls community is filled with fun, friendly and supportive women from 18-70+. We never ask your age, just that you are up for an adventure!

As a rough guide, most Gutsy Girls guests are 24-60 years old, with around 60% in their 30s-40s.

After a day learning to surf, hiking to peaks for incredible views or exploring remote locations by paddleboard, age becomes irrelevant as we're all connected by our experiences.

  • Definitely join alone, the vast majority of guests join come along to our events and retreats solo.

Our aim is to connect you with like-minded new friends! We are a very friendly bunch, come as you are, we can’t wait to meet you!

  • Please check your spam folders before contacting us. Hotmail in particular like to put our emails in spam. You'll need to add events@gutsygirls.co.uk and bookings@gutsygirls.co.uk to your safe list or to your contacts.

  • Whenever possible we use female instructors and guides on our day events and trips, however we cannot always guarantee this, simply because there are fewer female instructors available!

Our first priority is to work with the most highly experienced and considerate instructors and guides, who are patient, friendly and as passionate as we are about building women’s confidence in the outdoors.  Simply due to the ratio of men to women in the outdoors industry, sometimes this means our guides and instructors are male. We keep a close eye on the feedback our guides receive from our guests as we believe that overall this is more important than their gender.

We sincerely hope that as more women are introduced to adventure sports and activities, the amount of female guides and instructors in our industry will increase.
