We are hiring | Yoga Retreat Leaders
Our search for Gutsy Girls Leaders continues!
Thank you to all of you who applied in our last round of applications, we are still working reading your Host applications and will be in touch very soon.
YOGA RETREAT LEADER
We are still accepting applications for Leaders. We would really really love to hear from you if you are a qualified Yoga Instructor who has great leadership skills!
You don’t need to be currently teaching in the studio! Maybe you completed your yoga training for your own personal practice, but love sharing the joys of yoga with others we’d love to hear from you!
You also don’t need to be a SUP instructor or have much paddleboarding experience, we can help you develop these skills!
The Leader role is a paid position for experienced Yoga Instructors with exceptional soft skills to empower guests, strengthen our community, and support our experience providers. Both roles include leadership development opportunities and training experiences within the Gutsy Girls community.
About the Role
Gutsy Girls Leaders help women step outside of their comfort zone with kindness and compassion and often find themselves as a catalyst and cheerleader through moments of self-growth and confidence building.
Leaders have the ability to recognize when a guest's inner critic is acting up during adventures and step in to give a small support pep talk on the side. They can sense the first signs of discomfort within a group and shift the energy to create safety and build connections towards unity and shared experience. Most importantly, they believe that everyone belongs just as they are, encourage guests to find their inner Gutsy Girl and try something new, and celebrate the experience over the achievements.
As these are physically active roles, a good level of fitness and energy is required for leapfrogging back and forth in activities to support our guests - you may need to paddle or hike greater distances to check in with the lead and sweep of the group. Hosts and Leaders are passionate about the outdoors and adventure, and excited to be part of other women's journeys into discovering new sports and adventure. They create an ego-free and non-competitive environment for our guests to blossom.

Responsibilities Yoga Leader positions include:
Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment
You are friendly and approachable and ensure the emotional safety and belonging of all guests to the group and collective experience. A friend to all, you will hold space for guests to feel comfortable and engaged within the group and create opportunities for everyone to be included, heard, and valued.
Management of group dynamics
You are comfortable (and even enjoy!) speaking in front of a group. You’ll be able to bring the guests together as a team, break the ice, and help them get to know each other at the start. You’ll continue to foster meaningful relationships throughout the trip and be willing to have uncomfortable conversations to address and resolve any disempowering dynamics as they arise.
Communication of trip logistics
You should be confident and able to find out and impart important information to the group (e.g. what happens next, when breakfast is, what time to meet, etc) - and if you can’t answer questions you need to be confident in finding the answers to them. You’ll communicate a debrief of the day as well as the plans and timings for the following day.
Guest encouragement and compassionate support
You are observant and tuned in to others' experiences and able to pick up someone who feels uncomfortable or nervous. You’re supportive, caring, and kind to the needs of others. You’re understanding of neurodiverse guests and ensure to include everyone. You have informed awareness and sensitivity towards world events, trauma, eating disorders & body image, race, religion, equality, LGBTQ2+.
You get a kick out of seeing others learn new skills, get out of their comfort zone and achieve things they never thought they could. You’ll be their biggest cheerleader! You advocate for the best in all of our guests.
Support to experience providers
You take instruction to carry out activities as per the advice of the qualified guides and instructors leading the experiences, such as handing out equipment or helping to carry gear and direct guests. You are willing to be the second in command and support in a followership role.
Decision making and problem-solving
You’ll make it clear from the outset that you’re the Host or Leader and therefore the go-to person for issues or problems, whilst simultaneously being a part of the group rather than outside it. You are cool, calm, and collected under pressure and can confidently and proactively address unpredictable issues from adverse weather to guests getting sick or injured. You might need to make decisions for the group and decide where you are best placed to be.
Putting our guests’ experience first
You understand that you are there in support of the guests and that the guests’ experience comes before your own. Although being a Host or Leader is usually a blast, you are willing to miss out on some or all of the activities on a trip as required if you are needed elsewhere and do this with grace. You are discreet and professional with guests’ private personal information.
Infusing fun
You’re full of energy and radiate positivity, you’re able to bring humour and light to challenges. You’re looking to learn more about yourself and grow alongside our guests. You are keen to take part in all the activities on offer with enthusiasm.
Leaders will be required to commit to a minimum of 14 days (2 trips per year).
Extra Bonus Responsibilities:
Consistently deliver a high level of customer service and traveller satisfaction.
A point of contact for our guests throughout the trip
Taking photos and videos of our guests, sharing images with guests via Whatsapp Group and uploading to our Google drive library.
