What is Bikepacking?

Bikepacking is the same as self-supported overnight hiking trips, just on two wheels! Combining the freedom of multi-day backcountry hiking, exploring off-road trails with the ability to cover more ground. It’s about exploring places less travelled, via singletrack trails, bridleways and ancient tracks and paths, carrying the essential gear and not much more.

Everything you need for a wild adventure will be carried on your bike frame in specialist bags.

On Gutsy Girls Bikepacking adventures, we provide a top quality mountain bike, all the bags, a sleeping mat, bivvy, tarp and camping stove. You'll just need to bring a sleeping bag!

The UK has a vast network of trails to explore by bike. On a mountain bike you have the option to go off road, exploring bridleways and single tracks, getting you into nature!

On our adventure you don’t need any previous mountain biking experience to join this adventure; however, we do ask that you can ride a bike confidently over a variety of terrain and for a extended period of time, and the Cotswold hills mean you may need to dig deep occasionally!

Depending on your route, you may choose to wild camp, stay in campsites or maybe treat yourself to the occasional b&b.

Since lightweight is the name of the game, you'll likely want to bivvy. A bivvy is a waterproof bag you put over your sleeping bag and mat, and a trap will go over you if it's looking like a wet night. It's a chance to really sleep outside and under the stars!

The world is your oyster when it comes to bikepacking, but if you're struggling on where to start, check out well know routes like the South Downs Way.

Want to leave the navigation and planning to someone else? Join us in the Cotswold Hills. We've meticulously researched and tested our route, giving you all the sights, a couple of thrills and yes there'll be some hills... it's in the name.
