We don't have recommended flights for these trips, you just need to book a flight to Oslo Gardermoen which lines up with our recommended train times (see "Arrival day and recommended train timings" and "Departure day and recommended train timings").
You will need a morning flight to Oslo, to give you plenty of time to get the train to Ringebu, and an evening flight back from Oslo on the way home.
On arrival day, we usually recommend a minimum of an hour between your plane landing and your train departing. The airport is efficient and the train station is right in the terminal. Guests have managed with less time but we don't advise it unless necessary in case of flight delays.

Ringebu is easily accessible from from Oslo Gardermoen airport. Travelling by train is straightforward and rail services in Norway are excellent.
Once your trip is confirmed and you know your flights please book your rail journey as soon as possible because the trains can become booked up. Tickets go on sale 60 - 90 days before travel.
We will collect you from a choice of two departures from Oslo Gardermoen airport (these trains originate in Oslo Sentral so you can catch the same train from there if you wish). Please look at "Arrival day and recommended train timings" and "Departure day and recommended train timings" for the details of which trains we recommend.
Book your tickets on the Vy website (https://www.vy.no/en) - which is easy to use and has an English version. Alternatively you can also use https://www.sj.no.
At Oslo Gardermoen airport (lufthavn) the railway station is in the same building as the airport, downstairs. You’ll find that the station staff speak excellent English and everything is well signposted.
Take the train to Ringebu on the Dovre railway line. It’s a scenic journey of about two and a half hours from Oslo Gardermoen. Oslo city centre (in Norway this is called Oslo S or Oslo Sentralstasjon) and Lillehammer are on the same rail line (in opposite directions).
We will pick you up from the railway station in Ringebu. The transfer time to the hotel from the station is about twenty minutes.

**On Saturdays the second train times are slightly different:
Depart 15:59 Oslo lufthavn stasjon
Arrive 18:35 Ringebu stasjon
(This is a train to Lillehammer and then an easy change to bus VY710 to Ringebu)
Please see "How to book your train to Ringebu" for information on how to book your trains. You are responsible for ensuring that there is enough time between your flight arriving and train departing. We will ask you to let us know which train you will be on in your Web Check-in in your Booking Portal. We will meet both trains, and it is a 20 minute transfer to the hotel.

If you don't land in Oslo early enough for our recommended trains, there are usually some later trains or train / bus combinations to Ringebu from Oslo Gardermoen airport. Please check https://www.vy.no/en for your dates to confirm this - remember it is your responsibility to make your own way to Ringebu!
You are welcome to arrive on one of these later trains or buses, but you will miss dinner on the first night (no refund possible) and you will need to pay for a taxi from the station at Ringebu to the hotel as we are only able to collect from the two recommended trains; the cost of a taxi will be in the region of NOK 275 one way.
We can book this taxi for you in advance and you can pay directly at the hotel on arrival - please email bookings@gutsygirls.co.uk to arrange this (we will not see requests in your web check in form).

Accommodation & Food
-
We’ll be staying in a cosy, family-run ‘’fjellhotel’ mountain hotel – warm and welcoming with spectacular views of lakes, mountains, and forests.
The bedrooms are simple, light, and all ensuite - no TVs here, which is pretty standard for a fjellhotel. Instead, guests tend to gather around the fire in the cosy lounge to read, knit, or just have a chat.
There’s a sauna if you fancy a little wind-down after a day out, and both the dining room and lounge boast stunning views of the mountains.
The lounge (or stua) is a spacious, inviting spot with an open fire and a bar. Complimentary tea and coffee are always on hand, and because this hotel is dog-friendly, you might spot a few friendly resident dogs hanging about. Don’t worry—there’s no obligation to make friends if dogs aren’t your thing.

Absolutely.
-
No, but if you think you’ll need to freshen up your layers, a bit of travel wash should do the trick.
-
The food is a real treat—hearty, homemade, and focused on fresh, local ingredients. You’ll enjoy a three-course set dinner each evening, a generous breakfast buffet, and packed lunches for our adventures. Simple, tasty, and always made with care.
-
Of course! Just let us know in advance about any allergies or preferences, as dinners are set menus. Chefs craft delicious meals with great care and are well-equipped to catering for all dietary needs.
Activities
-
The hiking is remote and can be tough, with long days and rugged terrain. One peak called the Besseggen Ridge includes a scramble with a short, hand-over-hand chain descent. You’ll need to be comfortable with heights and a bit of exposure.
-
Not at all. We totally get that heights aren’t for everyone. That;s why this trip has two experienced guides, so we can split the group. If the Besseggen Ridge isn’t your thing, there’s an alternative hike available that’s less intense but equally beautiful.
With two guides, we can offer two different hikes on the day - something to suit everyone’s comfort level. So no pressure, just pick the option that feels right for you.
-
We’ve rated this trip moderate to challenging, so a good level of fitness and stamina is key to getting the most out of it.
Duration: The toughest days involve up to 9 hours of hiking—expect long days in proper wilderness.
Distance: You’ll cover 12–20km each day over mountainous terrain.
Elevation: Climbs reach up to 1100m, so be ready for steady ascents and descents.
Terrain: Expect rocky, uneven trails, bringing intensity to the hike
Scrambling: Parts of the hike may include the odd scramble—hands and feet required, but no ropes needed.
Heights: Some sections are exposed, so you’ll need a head for heights.
Consecutive Days of Activity: It’s three days of back-to-back hiking, so stamina is a must.
Weather Considerations: Weather can be unpredictable in the mountains, so pack for all possibilities—from sunshine to sudden showers.
If you’re comfortable with hill walking, have a solid fitness base, and enjoy a challenge, you’ll be in your element. Just be honest with yourself—these hikes are remote, rugged, and demanding, but they’re worth every step.

Yes! You can find it here.
-
Yes—bring a 25-litre daypack for layers, snacks, and essentials.
-
Norwegian summers can be cool, so pack as you would for a crisp UK autumn. Check the forecast before you go and adjust accordingly. Should weather not permit, there is an option to choose a different hike on this date.
-
No need—cards are accepted everywhere we go, so you can skip the Norwegian Krone.
-
The yoga is slow and restorative—perfect for stretching out and unwinding after a day on the trails.
Other
-
Never! Our trips are open to adventurous women of all ages, with guests ranging from 18 to over 70. Most fall between 30–40, but age truly doesn’t matter when you’re experiencing new adventures or paddleboarding a remote fjord.
-
Absolutely—most of our guests come alone. We’re a friendly bunch, and you’ll leave with plenty of new, like-minded mates.
-
We work with the most experienced, friendly, and patient guides out there—male or female. While we aim to support women in the industry, the reality is there are fewer female instructors available.
That said, we keep a close eye on guest feedback to ensure every guide delivers the best experience. We hope that by encouraging more women into outdoor adventures, we’ll see the number of female guides grow.
