Welcome to the Arctic, where the wilderness stretches beyond the horizon, the silence is broken only by the crack of shifting ice, and adventure is as boundless as the landscape itself. This is a place of extremes—massive glaciers towering like frozen fortresses, vast tundras untouched by time, and fjords so still they reflect the sky like glass. It’s also home to some of the world’s rarest wildlife, from Arctic foxes darting across the snow to reindeer grazing in the distance—and if fortune favours us, the awe-inspiring sight of a polar bear in its natural habitat.
This is no ordinary trip—it’s a journey into the heart of Svalbard’s wild frontier, where we’ll explore by kayak and on foot, hiking across ancient glaciers and trekking through rugged Arctic landscapes. For two nights, we’ll sleep in tents, fully immersed in the untamed beauty of the north, with only the sound of the wind and the sound of cracking glacier ice as company.
Days will be spent glacier hiking, kayaking through dramatic fjords, and trekking across remote tundra, surrounded by endless horizons of ice and glaciers. And for a final, unforgettable touch? Taking turns on polar bear watch—a rare moment of solitude under the midnight sun, where the Arctic feels both vast and deeply personal.
More than just an adventure holiday, this trip is a true Arctic expedition. A glacier hiking adventure for those who crave the raw beauty of the north and the thrill of stepping far beyond the ordinary. A Svalbard hiking holiday like no other—this is a bucket list experience for the truly adventurous.
Location
Svalbard is like stepping onto another planet—vast, wild, and untamed. Our base is Ymerbukta, an isolated stretch of Arctic wilderness that feels completely detached from the modern world. Here, the weather is unpredictable, the landscapes are shaped by ice and wind, and the wildlife is unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere. Glaciers tower over the fjords, seabirds nest on craggy cliffs, and Arctic foxes dart across the tundra. And then there’s the real king of the Arctic—the polar bear. While sightings are never guaranteed, this is prime polar bear territory, making every moment spent scanning the horizon a thrill in itself. With endless daylight in summer, the sun never sets on this extraordinary Arctic holiday.
This adventure isn’t just about exploring—it’s about immersing yourself in one of the world’s most untouched ecosystems, where wildlife thrives in the most extreme conditions. Svalbard is home to a fascinating array of Arctic animals, from curious Arctic foxes darting between the rocks to Svalbard reindeer grazing in the tundra’s sparse vegetation. Keep an eye on the skies, where skuas and Arctic terns wheel overhead. If luck is on our side, we may spot walruses basking on the ice, minke whales surfacing for breath, and beluga whales gliding through the fjords.
And, of course, there’s the polar bear—the elusive ruler of the Arctic. While sightings are never guaranteed, our remote camp sits within their vast territory, making the experience of taking turns on night-time polar bear watch a truly special part of the trip. Wrapped up warm, sipping tea, and gazing across the endless icy expanse, you’ll feel a connection to the Arctic that few ever get to experience. A moment of solitude, quiet anticipation, and deep appreciation for the wild.
Wildlife In The Arctic
Off Grid Camping
For two nights, we’ll camp in a remote Arctic base camp, completely off-grid and immersed in nature. Our wilderness tents offer warmth and shelter, while a heated communal tent provides a space to eat and unwind. Falling asleep under the midnight sun and waking up to glacier views is a surreal and unforgettable experience.
Polar Bear Lookout
To ensure safety, guests will all take turns on night-time polar bear watch. Under the midnight sun you'll scan the horizon for movement, whilst also taking the opportunity to soak in the Arctic’s eerie, breath-taking beauty whilst your group sleeps.
Hiking
Explore Svalbard’s rugged terrain on foot, navigating its dramatic tundra, glacial valleys, and stunning fjords. The hiking is challenging but deeply rewarding, offering some of the most spectacular views on Earth.
Experience the Arctic from the water, paddling through icy fjords in double kayaks. This is a chance to see glaciers from a unique perspective, surrounded by towering ice formations and perhaps even the occasional curious seal.
Kayaking
Glacier Hiking
Step onto the ancient ice of Esmark Glacier, where every crack and crevasse tells a story thousands of years in the making. With crampons strapped to your boots and an expert guide leading the way, you’ll traverse this frozen giant, learning how to safely navigate its ever-shifting terrain. It’s an immersive journey into the heart of the Arctic’s frozen wilderness, and along the way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of glacial forces, climate change, and the sheer power of nature.
