Expect cold and variable weather conditions. While we can't forecast the exact temperatures for a specific week, they typically range between -5°C to -20°C. On occasion, they might even plummet to around -35°C. Though these temperatures sound extremely cold, Swedish winters usually offer a "dry" cold, which often feels less biting than the "damp" cold familiar to the UK.

Gear Hire:
For this adventure, we offer winter clothing rentals.
You have the option to rent at the time of booking or up to two weeks prior to your trip. Rest assured, your attire will be ready and waiting for you in Sweden, and once your journey concludes, you can simply leave it with us. The clothes are maintained and cleaned between use.
It's worth noting that the gear we provide is sourced from Houdini Sportswear – a premium Swedish brand celebrated for its exceptional outdoor apparel quality.

If you are a very cold person it might be worth getting this Houdini jacket for extra insulation when we are standing still, cooking or in the evenings.

What to Bring:
Cross Country Skiing/Snowshoeing Kit:
Base layer thermal tops (synthetic, wool or silk) - at least 2 sets
Long johns (thermal) (synthetic, wool or silk) - at least 2 sets
Warm fleece or wool jumper (available for rent)
Light mid-layer synthetic or down insulated jacket (available for rent)
A breathable, waterproof/water resistant and windproof shell jacket (available for rent)
Breathable, waterproof/water resistant and windproof shell trousers or ski salopettes (available for rent)
Fleece sweatpants or thermal leggings (mid layer for your legs)
A warm packable insulated / down jacket (available for rent)
A selection of warm socks of different thicknesses to help you get the best fit in your boots (wool is best):
Thinner socks x 3 or more

Sunglasses (ski googles can be useful if the weather is bad but can fog up when you get hot!)
Warm hat
Buff (you might want two - one for your neck, one as a headband), scarf or balaclava
Gloves for normal winter use, nothing fancy needed (liners and thicker mittens for winter activities provided)
Glove liners and/or disposable hand and/or feet warmers if you suffer from cold hands
Warm hat
Sunglasses with UV-protection
Off the Skis:
Snow boots or warm and waterproof hiking boots
Casual warm evening clothes
Night wear
Toiletries
Swimwear for the sauna if you wish (Swedes will go nude!)
Sandals, preferably plastic, for sauna

Sleeping bag liner (optional)
Sunscreen (high factor) and lip salve
Any prescription medication
Other medication (paracetamol/ibuprofen) is significantly more expensive in Sweden so bring some if you need to
Compeed or moleskin for blisters, just in case!
Slippers / shoes for the cabin
Earplugs and eye mask for sharing rooms in the cabins

Fully charged power banks (there is no electricity in the wilderness base).
Neoprene booties and gloves for ice dipping if you wish
Waterproof case for your phone might be handy
Snacks
We recommend packing your gear into a backpack or soft sided non-rolling bag, as you will need to carry it for a short section over snowy terrain!
