For those dreaming of a ski holiday but unsure where to begin, our learn to ski holiday is the perfect place to start. Nestled in the tranquil beauty of Sweden’s Jämtland mountains, Trillevallen is a serene, uncrowded resort with beginner-friendly slopes and breathtaking surroundings.

This six-day beginner ski holiday is designed to make skiing simple and enjoyable. With ski lessons, expert coaching, lift passes, top-quality equipment hire, airport transfers, everything is taken care of. Evenings are for unwinding in a cosy alpine hotel, taking in hearty meals, relaxing in the sauna, and sharing tales from the slopes.

This is skiing at its most inviting—a chance to learn, progress, and soak in the magic of the Swedish alpine scenery.

Location

Trillevallen, just 25km from the lively town of Åre, is a quiet escape offering the perfect backdrop for beginners. Surrounded by snowy peaks and lush forests, it’s been a peaceful alpine retreat since the 1930s.

With eight lifts and 21 pistes ranging from gentle greens to adventurous blacks, there’s room to learn to ski and allow for variety to progress your skills, all while savouring the charm of Sweden’s winter landscape. Here, skiing feels more like an experience than a sport—inspiring, exhilarating, and refreshingly uncrowded.

Activities

Learn to Ski

Our six-day programme is tailored to help beginners build confidence and master the downhill skiing basics in a supportive, welcoming and enjoyable setting.

Morning lessons with experienced instructors focus on building confidence step by step. Small group sizes ensuring personalised coaching tailored to pace and abilities to make us feel encouraged every turn of the way.

Afternoons are for putting those skills into practice, with guides offering tips and encouragement. This seamless mix of structured lessons and free skiing ensures steady progress while ensuring a good time.

Night Ski

Experience the thrill of skiing under the stars on a floodlit slope. Night skiing offers a unique atmosphere—calm, invigorating, and a little magical. Afterward, unwind with a drink at a cosy mountain bar, swapping stories with fellow Gutsy Girls.

Cross Country Skiing

Take a break from downhill with a day of cross-country skiing. Glide through snow-covered trails, guided by skilled instructors. It’s a relaxing way to explore the snowy landscape while developing balance and stamina.

Cross-country skiing is the perfect winter sport for adventurers, beginners, and anyone looking to sharpen their skills. With its easy learning curve, you’ll be gliding through snowy trails and stunning wilderness in no time—discovering the joy of skiing without the crowds. Simple, serene, and endlessly rewarding!

Fitness and Experience Level

  • This trip is rated moderate.

It’s perfect for beginners, with no previous ski or winter sport experience, however you’ll need a good level of fitness to get the most from this experience.

    • Duration: Each day you’ll be active for 6-7 hours

    • Intensity: Although you will  be taking ski lifts to get up the hills, you will need a good level of fitness as it’s a physical sport, especially when you’re just starting out!

    • Downhill: You will need to be comfortable gaining speed on a slope.

    • Sliding Motion: Being comfortable with a gliding sensation is essential.

    • Falling: You’ll need to be comfortable with the idea of falling over!

    • Cold Exposure: While activity generates warmth, this area of Sweden often sees temperatures dip below freezing. We'll advise you on effective layering to stay warm.

    • Consecutive Activity: This trip involves several days of consecutive skiing, which can be tiring.

If you have any questions about this, please do get in touch before booking, we're happy to help!

  • Stay in a traditional alpine lodge with a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Once a retreat for artists and writers, it now offers modern comforts alongside its historic charm. Indulge in the lodge’s amenities and savour the relaxation after a day of adventure.
