StrongHer - The women only fitness community building warriors in lockdown!
I’m not quite sure how I stumbled across StrongHer, most likely from falling into a rabbit hole on Instagram, but I’ve been a fan girl ever since! The past two years I’ve been following their journey and promoting to all London* based Gutsy Girls to get involved with their training program Warrior Project.
*Not London based? No worries, they’ve taken Warrior Project online…keep reading!
StrongHer is a fitness community that empowers women through weight training, healthy eating and mindset training. StrongHer is a community, just like Gutsy Girls it connects like-minded women, creates powerful support networks and is fuelled with laughter and friendship too!
“Our mission is to build every single woman’s confidence on the inside and out. Through our strong, inclusive community of women, coming from different backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles who empower each other, we along with our Inspirational and very real coaches show women how to take back control of their own fitness, nutrition and wellbeing.”
I personally started weight lifting to supplement my rowing training a few years back. My boyfriend Dom had convinced me to join our local lifting gym Beefs and Babes. The name alone intimidated me 😆(and still makes me laugh) but Dom was a PT in a former life and was my guide in uncharted waters, teaching me how to lift with correct form and accompanying me on my training sessions. The gym itself was super friendly, but the lack of female presence, it took some time before I felt truly comfortable heading there to train without Dom.
Weightlifting was perfect for me. I’m motivated by results, the act of psychically adding more weight to the bar or adding an extra rep meant that each session I could track my progression. My body shape changed quickly, and as I grew stronger my confidence in other aspects of my life grew too. Between sets, I’d feel inspired and a lot my thinking to creating Gutsy Girls happened in the gym!
At the time I thought more women needed to be introduced to weight training and I was thrilled to find two bold and badass ladies doing just that through StrongHer.
ONLINE TRAINING
StrongHer were gearing up to open it’s exclusive women-only gym in London this month, after a super successful crowdfunding campaign.
With the country now in lockdown, they’ve been super fast to adapt and moving their community and training online.
Their small group training sessions online to Zoom, they are keeping the StrongHer tribe active, strong and progressing on their personal fitness journey in front of their sofas!
If you’ve struggled to remain motivated with online fitness during lockdown (Hi, my name’s Nat) this could be the online workout you’ve been looking for.
With small group training sessions through Zoom, you’ll build a connection with your trainer and feel part of something by training with others you can see on your screen. With your coach watching, you’ll be less inclined to sit out the burpees (guilty) and find it harder to turn off that an Instagram story (guilty again).
StrongHer are currently offering 3 FREE classes for you to get a taste of what it’s all about.
Once you’re hooked The Warrior Project Online is £50 a month and includes loads of good stuff to keep you motivated and active!
2 virtual face to face small group training sessions via zoom, per week. (8 per month)
